AAA-NORCAP Training and Consultancy Services

AAA-NORCAP provides training to equip Adoption Support Workers in statutory and voluntary adoption agencies to work within the legislative and regulatory framework detailed in the Adoption and Children Act 2002. All the training programmes offered take full account of the regulations and guidance and have been designed by AAA-NORCAP’s CEO - who was a member of the team responsible for drafting the Good Practice Guidance. AAA-NORCAP, as a leading campaigner for the universal provision of intermediary services, has been working closely with the adoption team at the DfES throughout the legislative process and the period surrounding implementation.

Our trainers are fully conversant with the primary and secondary legislation and will share their knowledge and skills with the participants through accessible presentations, practice examples and user friendly materials that will enable those trained to implement the new requirements with confidence. AAA-NORCAP training staff have worked extensively in the field of adoption support for many years and in several cases have personal knowledge and experience of adoption.

Training offered includes:

Access to Birth and Adoption Records

A one day programme providing a comprehensive
skills and knowledge induction for workers new to this area and an opportunity for experienced workers to learn the changes that resulted from the implementation of the Adoption and Children Act 2002.

Providing Skilful Intermediary Services

An intensive one day programme exploring the statutory checks required, preparation of the applicant, making contact with the subject and enabling those affected to reach informed decisions on how to proceed. Attendees are provided with a template for case work recording that serves as an aide memoir and a range of template letters. Case studies and discussion of complex issues are included.

Safe Searching Skills

A one day workshop held in our own training room with demonstrations of all our location resources and the opportunity to ’try out’ the methods taught. Group size limited to 12.
