Searching
NORCAP guides members with their search for relatives lost through adoption. New Members all now receive their personal SFFC Action Pack. Developed from the renowned NORCAP book Searching for Family Connections, the Action Pack provides a comprehensive guidebook, fact sheets detailing all reference sources and searching tips, record cards and log sheets for recording the progress of your search and specific spaces for securely storing all the materials that will be collected during a search.
The NORCAP Search Room holds the GRO records for over 100 years on fiche, invaluable Electoral Roll Databases and a wealth of additional material. Members are welcome to use the search room resources independently or with support and guidance from a researcher. Members can send booking requests by email.
NORCAP Accredited Researchers work directly for members, particularly adopted people, who have the necessary identifying information to search but prefer to have this done by a specialist. Searches on behalf of birth relatives who hold no identifying information are undertaken by our research service using information released from agencies in confidence. The research request form is available to members online.
