Established in 1982 NORCAP was formed to help adults affected by adoption and to reduce distress and anxiety.

We do this by:

• Giving information, support and advice to members about adoption, its impact, and search and reunion.
• Operating a register which may link people separated by adoption who want to be put in touch with each other.
• Offering a skilled intermediary service to facilitate reunions and provide ongoing support.
• Running a network of trained volunteers who provide local support to members.
• Providing a telephone helpline each weekday.
• Giving expert advice and information on searching for relatives separated by adoption.
• Providing local support groups for members.
• Giving specialist advice and support to adults abandoned as babies.

NORCAP facts:

• 1 in 10 people is affected by adoption.
• 56,505 people are waiting on the NORCAP register.
• Over 1000 registered matches have been made so far.
• So far over 2,500 families have been reunited by our intermediary service.

  (slightly more than a pound a week).
